「幡（ばん）」は、寺院の重要な法要の時などに使われる「旗」で、仏や寺院を美しく飾り、称えるためのものです。人々の平和を祈る意味や魔除けの意味があると言われています。 ここで掲揚される8つの幡は、「花鳥風月」をテーマに、全国の障がいのある人たちから募集し、審査を経て選抜された 64 作品の絵画をデザインしたものです。ゆっくり風に舞う姿をお楽しみ下さい。
Big Ban at Todaiji Temple
“Ban”refers to the“flags” that are used during important Buddhist memorial services at temples. They are used to both beautifully adorn temples and honor Buddha.
It is said that they act as a prayer of peace for all people and are believed to have the power to repel evil. The 8“Ban”displayed here, after being judged, were chosen from 64 works submitted by disabled people from all over Japan with the“Beauties of Nature”as the theme. We hope you enjoy the way they flutter gracefully in the wind.
